Other actions by Obama: Criticism of congressional efforts to protect the faith-based values of military chaplains is disturbing on many levels, charges the Center for Military Readiness, a non-partisan public policy organization that supports the U.S. military services. He said "he would make certain the conscience protections do not produce any discriminatory results." In a commentary on WND, R. Neil Farrar, an independent writer, concluded Obama’s goal “is not only to legalize [homosexual behavior], but to inflict terror into the hearts and minds of conservatives and Christians who would dare stand in their way.”He continued: “What is at stake today in our military is the religious freedom of our chaplains to minister in accordance with their faith and tenets. A chaplain is the moral conscience of their command, and [repealing DADT] will simply ensure that their voices will be squelched.”

Incidents documented by officials with Chaplain Alliance include: Two airmen were publicly harassed in a post exchange food court as they were privately discussing their concerns.
  • A chaplain was encouraged by military officials to resign his commission unless he could “get in line with the new policy.”
  • A commander refused to take disciplinary action over a male service member who “sexually harassed” another male service member, “through text messages, emails, phone calls and in person confrontations, insisting the two would ‘make a great couple.’”
  • Senior military officials have allowed personnel in favor of repeal to speak to media while those who have concerns have been ordered to be silent.
  • Service members engaged in homosexual behavior protested a service school’s open doors policy for all students that prohibited the closing of room doors for sexual purposes. The protesters were upset because they claimed that they had a right to participate in sexual behavior with their same-sex roommates.
  • A senior chaplain was stripped of his authority over the chapel under his charge because, in accordance with federal law, he proclaimed the chapel as a “sacred space” where marriage or marriage-like ceremonies would only be between one man and one woman.
  • Same-sex ceremonies have been performed at military chapels, including one at Fort Polk, La., a state that constitutionally defines marriage as one man and one woman.
  • The Navy has allowed sailors openly engaged in homosexual behavior to choose their bunkmates.
  • “This list of problems and incidents that have arisen mere months after this administration imposed its will on the armed forces is disturbing to say the least, and we know it is only the beginning,” said alliance spokesman Ron Crews. “Compounding the outrage, service members are not free to speak out about these matters. This ensures that distrust in the ranks will increase and morale will decrease as the number of silenced victims grows.” A chaplain was encouraged by military officials to resign his commission unless he could “get in line with the new policy.”

DRAFT What i am going to show here is the AGGRESSIVE actions of the Obama administration in attacking freedom of religion. The reason this is beyond important is that the first thing a totalitarian takeover does is attack freedom of religion(conscience). From there count on freedom of speech, press and assembly. History bears this out.A special message to Catholics who voted Obama and either KNEW he had antipathy towards the Catholic Church in particular[ Christianity in general ] or didn't bother to research;how could you even consider it? You do know you submit to the teaching authority of the Church re faith and morals? You do know that morals are not determined by popular(public)opinion or vote? If you didn't know maybe we should have been informed or heeded the warnings? Now we'll go on with some of Obama's other attacks on freedom of religion/conscience. Unfortunately you will get what you asked for. A man who doesn't answer to a power higher than himself makes himself the higher power. Believe me he has no intentions to answer to you or to anyone else. An immoral president is one who is corrupt. It's that simple.

Six Things Everyone Should Know About The HHS Mandate February 6, 2012 WASHINGTON— The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops offers the following clarifications regarding the Health and Human Services regulations on mandatory coverage of contraceptives, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs.
  • 1.The mandate does not exempt Catholic charities, schools, universities, or hospitals. These institutions are vital to the mission of the Church, but HHS does not deem them "religious employers" worthy of conscience protection, because they do not "serve primarily persons who share the[ir] religious tenets."HHS denies these organizations religious freedom precisely because their purpose is to serve the common good of society—a purpose that government should encourage, not punish.
  • 2.The mandate forces these institutions and others, against their conscience, to pay for things they consider immoral. Under the mandate, the government forces religious insurers to write policies that violate their beliefs;forces religious employers and schools to sponsor and subsidize coverage that violates their beliefs; and forces religious employees and students to purchase coverage that violates their beliefs.
  • 3.The mandate forces coverage of sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs and devices as well as contraception. Though commonly called the "contraceptive mandate," HHS's mandate also forces employers to sponsor and subsidize coverage of sterilization. And by including all drugs approved by the FDA for use as contraceptives, the HHS mandate includes drugs that can induce abortion, such as "Ella," a close cousin of the abortion pill RU-486.
  • 4.Catholics of all political persuasions are unified in their opposition to the mandate Catholics who have long supported this Administration and its healthcare policies have publicly criticized HHS's decision, including columnists E.J. Dionne. . . , Mark Shields. . . , and Michael Sean Winters. . . ; college presidents Father John Jenkins. . . and Arturo Chavez. . . ; and Daughter of Charity Sister Carol Keehan. . . , president and chief executive officer of the Catholic Health Association of the United States.
  • 5.Many other religious and secular people and groups have spoken out strongly against the mandate. Many recognize this as an assault on the broader principle of religious liberty, even if they disagree with the Church on the underlying moral question. For example, Protestant Christian. . . , Orthodox Christian. . . , and Orthodox Jewish. . . groups--none of which oppose contraception--have issued statements against the HHS's decision. The Washington Post. . . , USA Today. . . , N.Y. Daily News. . . , Detroit News. . . , and other secular outlets, columnists. . . , and bloggers. . . have editorialized against it.
  • 6.The federal mandate is much stricter than existing state mandates. HHS chose the narrowest state-level religious exemption as the model for its own. That exemption was drafted by the ACLU and exists in only 3 states (New York, California, Oregon).Even without a religious exemption, religious employers can already avoid the contraceptive mandates in 28 states by self-insuring their prescription drug coverage, dropping that coverage altogether, or opting for regulation under a federal law (ERISA) that pre-empts state law.The HHS mandate closes off all these avenues of relief.
